Reiki is an ancient healing art. While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe. In fact, Reiki will work whether you believe in it or not.
Reiki is useful for:
- Sports injuries
- Long term pain, e.g. back pain. Rheumatism, arthritis, sciatica
- Speeding up healing following surgery
It also works on:
- Stress, tension, anxiety and related symptoms
- Low spirits, depression
Reiki practitioners are not trained in diagnosis and I will not offer any diagnosis or prognosis. If you are concerned about symptoms you should see your GP. Reiki is a complimentary therapy; it is not a substitute for proper medical care.
Reiki affects everyone in different ways. The most common is deep relaxation and a sense of healing. Some people feel coolness, or experience tingling, or see colours. Others experience nothing at all during treatment. There is no right or wrong way to experience Reiki.
You will be asked to lie down (or sit, if this is easier for you) but will not be asked to remove any clothing except for things which could restrict your comfort, such as shoes or spectacles. Reiki will go through clothing, blankets, even a plaster cast!
